Sometimes an agency is entered in the Agency Editor and the wrong ORI code is specified. Unfortunately you cannot change the ORI code after the agency has been added. Instead you must:
- Make sure this bad ORI was not sent to the FBI
- If data for the bad ORI was not sent to the FBI, delete any incidents or use of force cases that were uploaded using the bad ORI
- If data for the bad ORI was sent to the FBI, use the Data Status page to clear the errors returned from the FBI
- Use the Agency Editor to change the label of the bad ORI to something that differentiates it from the good ORI (e.g. add - Obsolete at the end):
- Use the Agency Editor to set the status of the agency to Not Reporting by changing the End Date to a date in the past:
- Add the agency again but this time with the correct ORI code. Use this correct ORI code for all future submissions.
