Google Analytics is a powerful platform for understanding how much your data is being used, and by whom. Historically, Beyond 20/20 has managed analytics for customers because there was no means by which customers could configure analytics without assistance. However, a recent need to distinguish public reporting site traffic from traffic on the LEA or admin reporting sites offered an opportunity to rework how Google Analytics, and turn over control of the analytics to customers.

Your organization may already be using Google Analytics to monitor traffic for other sites and applications, and now Crime Insight data can be placed under management by your own organization. Simply get one or more Google Analytics Tracking ID and follow the instruction below.  You can use a single Tracking ID for all of your reporting sites, or use a unique ID for each site to be distinguish data from each when using Google Analytics reports.

Configuring a Perspective Site

Before you begin, please confirm that Beyond 20/20 support has removed your current Google Analytics code. Then, follow the procedure below.

  1. Login to the Perspective Site you want to track using an administrator account.
  2. Click Site Manager to open the administration area where you can update the site configuration. You should never make changes in the Site Manager without the direction of Beyond 20/20 support (except user management.)
  3. Switch to the Analytics tab.
  4. Click Change...  and enter the Google Analytics Tracking ID in the GUID field. Click OK.

The data will begin populating immediately in Google Analytics, but Google's usage reports will not be available for 24 hours.

Configuring the Crime Insight Repository & TOPS

The other products in the Crime Insight application suite require manual configuration by Beyond 20/20 support. Please send an email to support@beyond2020.com providing the Google Analytics Tracking IDs you want used for these sites. Depending on your preference, you can reuse GUIDs already tracking Perspective Reporting, or provide new ones to track these products individually.
