Crime Insight reporting includes the Incident Lifecycle report to help agency and administrator users track the history for any reported incident.

This report is available by default on the LEA and ADMIN reporting sites.

To run the report, select the ORI and enter the Incident Number. Alternatively, the Single Incident Viewer report includes a button to launch the Incident Lifecycle report for the same agency and incident being viewed. The table provides the chronological history of updates to the incident, including who uploaded the data and in which file, the included segments, any errors or warnings that were generated, and the FBI submission date and response.

The segments column provides an overview of the content of the submitted incident, presented as if it was a flat file submission. This approach is used whether the file was submitted as a flat file or XML.  For each submission, you can tell:

  1. Whether it's a Group A or Group B (1I for Group A; 7A for Group B)
  2. How many offenses, property loss types, offenders, victims and arrestees are included in a Group A (by counting occurrences of 2I, 3I, 4I, 5I and 6I respectively)
  3. How many arrestees are included in a group B (by counting occurrences of 7A)
  4. Whether the incident is new (1I or 7A) or deleted (1D or 7D) or both
  5. If the file contains any Group A single-segment updates (6A or 3A occurring without a 1I; or 1M submitted alone)
  6. If an error has been resolved for an incident
  7. If an incident has any outstanding errors

This report is best used to identify the source of any unexpected changes to the data, or whenever a need to audit the history of an incident arises.
