Can I create a report that will show the property values for an offense? For example can I see the total property value for Robbery?
Answer
NIBRS does not support this type of report. In theory it would be possible for most incidents (if they only have one offense that can have property attached) but when an incident has multiple offenses and multiple properties, there's no way to identify which offense is connected to which property. For that reason, we don't have any reports that try to do this.
If your reporting site has Summary reports, the Summary report, SRS Property Values (Supplement to Return A) shows this information. Unfortunately this report uses NIBRS data that has been converted to Summary and the report will not be completely accurate due to the hierarchy rule.
